I live in San Francisco, but I am not a native. Whether that makes my opinions on the place more or less biased, you can decide. But I will tell ya this, Halloween is the most extraordinary night of the year here. There’s a quality I’ve observed and much appreciated about this town. People are simply freer here to be themselves. I guess that’s what so many San Franciscans have come to live here from somewhere else, where maybe being themselves wasn’t such an easy thing. On Halloween, the city, the citizens of San Francisco are magnificently on display… and at their most free.
